Unpublished manuscript titled "Helvetia, the Swiss Land of West Virginia," by Edwin A. Smith. This collection consists of a photocopy of a typed document. The manuscript regards the history of Helvetia, a Randolph County community established in 1869 by a group of Swiss immigrants.

Overview This collection contains a pamphlet and correspondence. Included is a typed copy of the oral account of Jacob Anderegg's life story. "Some Recollections from the life of Jacob Anderegg." Anderegg, born in Switzerland, 1851 July 12, immigrated to the United States on 1871 September 16 and became a settler of Helvetia, WV. Overview Genealogy of the Judy family extending back to the birth in Switzerland in 870 of Johann Von Glarus, who though born a slave, attained freedom and became knighted by Ludwig III who appointed him chief administrator of Glarus Canton.
