Land Title Certificates
Xerox copy of the Transallegheny Historical Magazine, 1901-1902, listing land title certificates issued mostly in Morgantown and Clarksburg for pioneer settlements in the 1770's for Ohio, Monongalia, and Yohogania counties in the state of Virginia. These land grants are not mentioned in Sims. Also included are names of stream and river branches. Indexed.
Marion County Civil War Payroll, Letter, and Deeds
Two Marion County deeds: one dated 1873-74 is between a Mr. & Mrs. A. S. Robertson; the other dated 1892 is between two different Hawkes. Civil War items: a muster debt payroll dated between 1863 and 1866; a letter from an L. Simpson of Newburg dated July 18, 1861 describes Union troop movements through the vicinity, the local war time manpower shortage, and mentions early battles in the area.
