Pittenger Family Letters
Various Pittenger family members wrote these letters, mostly to other family members. The most frequent correspondent is Abraham Pittenger, a farmer, teacher, and local government official in Hancock County. The letters detail farming and marketing of farm goods, educational developments, affairs of the Presbyterian Church, and family events. The collection also provides significant information about the early Republican party, secession crisis, Civil War and Reconstruction.

Reverend Sampson Miller, Collector, West Virginia Election Supplies Boxes
Two West Virginia election supplies boxes. One was made in Dayton, Ohio. The other was made in Spencer, West Virginia, and has "Vote Gard" printed on the lid. These boxes once held the contents of A&M 3905.

Samuel Young Letters (photocopies)
Photostatic copies of two letters from Samuel Young to John Sharp, written in 1863 at Wheeling, West Virginia, where Mr. Young was representing Pocahontas County in the West Virginia legislature. The letters deal mostly with the appointment of Sharp as Adjutant of the 127th Reg., West Virginia Militia (Pocahontas County), and with West Virginia senatorial elections.
