Overview

The original manuscript and a typed copy of Johnston's Civil War diary. Serving with Company L, Second Regiment, West Virginia Volunteer Cavalry, Johnston fought at Princeton, Lewisburg, Sinking Creek, and Wytheville. Captured and subsequently exchanged, he served in Washington until mustered out of service.
