A genealogy of the Ordner family which indicates its relationship to the Carrolls of Carrolton, Maryland; and a Civil War diary of George W. Ordner of Company B, Fifth Regiment, West Virginia Cavalry, relating its movements, encampments, skirmishes and battles. His unit served mainly in West Virginia, fighting at Droop Mountain and driving the Confederates from Mercer County in the 1864 campaign.

Overview

Genealogies of the William Piper (de Piper) family from 1767 to 1996, and of the Jacob Smith family from 1758 to 1979. Genealogies include brief histories and indexes of family descendants. There are also photocopies and transcriptions of William Piper's legal records: his marriage certificate, a deed, and an appraisal of his estate with a list of items sold after his death. William Piper was born in Scotland in 1767, eventually immigrating to America, where he died in Virginia in 1836.
