Stevens Coal Company Records

Overview

Acme, West Virginia, company which consisted of the Empire, Acme, and Keystone mines, and also had an interest in railroads. The collection contains a letter-book, payrolls, time-books, and coal shipment records. The letter-book has correspondence between T.F. Garrison and John J. Shouk of the Shouk-Garrison Coal Co. Payroll records include deductions from wages for rent, smithing, doctor, and company store accounts.

Sweet Springs Hotel Records

Business correspondence, accounts, ledger book, and legal papers of Townley B. Cauthorn, farmer and lumber merchant of Millboro (Bath County), Virginia. The collection contains pay records for sawmill hands and farm laborers, employee purchase accounts, and legal documents.
