Diary of Clara Hough of Morgantown, West Virginia, documenting Hough's social life and activities in 1877 when she was twenty years old. Also includes notes from 1876 on WVU letterhead bearing the name of Miss Mamie Hough.

Dr. Barbara Howe, best known as a pioneer in the public history movement of the 1970s and 1980s, worked at West Virginia University in a variety of different positions between 1980 and her retirement in 2009, including as professor of history, head of the public history program, and director of the Center for Women’s Studies. Prevalent subjects present in the collection include historical preservation, environmental activism, and politics in the Morgantown and broader West Virginia area.

Incoming postcards to Ethel Flesher Stewart (1890-1988) of St. Marys, West Virginia. John Rogers Correspondence

Overview

The collection consists largely of correspondence to Morgantown businessman John Rogers from relatives in Pennsylvania and Maryland. It also includes two letters from Sgt. William A. Widney, who was assigned to the U.S. War Department during the Civil War, to a Morgantown friend (possibly William Hennen). One letter was written by an unidentified woman to her grandson, a West Virginia University student.
